# deft/parse
Parse a Deft-literal string back into a value. Handles the output of `deft/stringify`. Data-only — no evaluation, no side effects.
## Syntax
[deft/parse "source"]
## Parameters
- `"source"` — string holding a single Deft data literal (`nil`, `true`, `false`, numbers, `"strings"`, `:keywords`, `@{...}`, `%{...}`, `^{...}`, `%Tag{...}`). Bare identifiers are read as keywords.
## Examples
[deft/parse "%{:a 1 :b @[1 2 3]}"] # → %{ :a 1 :b @[1 2 3] }
## Returns
The first data value in the source, or `nil` if none is found. Function calls, infix, variables, and statement keywords are rejected — safe to run on untrusted input.
