# dialog/msgbox
Open a message box with a single OK button.
## Syntax
[dialog/msgbox "Title" "Message"]
## Parameters
- `"Title"` — dialog title (defaults to `"Message"`)
- `"Message"` — body text shown inside the dialog
## Examples
[dialog/msgbox "Saved" "File written to disk."] [dialog/msgbox "Error" "Could not connect."] [dialog/msgbox %{ :title "Saved" :prompt "Done." }] [dialog/msgbox :saved "Saved" "Done."] # explicit id → :data~id :saved
## Returns
In TUI hosts the call returns immediately — `true` when an explicit id was given (leading keyword or `:id` in the spec map), else the numeric request-id. Behavior depends on the build:
- TUI (`retro`, `retra`) — returns immediately; a `:message` event with
topic `"dialog-result"` is delivered when the user dismisses the dialog
(`:data~cancelled` is false and `:data~value` is empty).
- `deft` scripting binary — blocks on stdin until dismissed, returns `nil`.
