# len Length of a collection or string. For strings this is the CODEPOINT count — multi-byte characters (中, é, ─) count 1 each. Use `bytes/len` when you mean the byte size (buffer sizing, protocol offsets on binary data). ## Syntax
[len $coll]
## Examples
[len @{a b c}] # 3
[len "a中c"] # 3 (characters)
[bytes/len "a中c"] # 5 (bytes)
## Returns Number. ## See Also `bytes/len`, `chars/count` (same for strings), `width` (display cells)
