# log
Append values to `<tmp-dir>/deft.log`, bypassing TUI redirects and the echo capture buffer. Always writes to disk regardless of host (CLI, TUI, scripting).
## Syntax
[log $value ...]
## Parameters
- `$value ...` — one or more values, formatted and space-separated, followed by a newline. The file is opened in append mode.
## Examples
[log "reached checkpoint" $x] [log %{ :event :init :ts [clock] }]
## Returns
`nil`. For leveled logging through `DEFT_LOG_LEVEL`, prefer the `log/debug`, `log/info`, `log/warn`, `log/error` macros from `stdext/logging.dft`.
