# os/env
Get an environment variable by name.
## Syntax
[os/env $name]
## Parameters
- `$name` — environment variable name (string)
## Examples
echo [os/env "HOME"] set path [os/env "PATH"] if [nil? [os/env "DEBUG"]] { echo "debug off" }
## Returns
String value, or `nil` if the variable is unset.
