# tui/dock/open
Open (or re-anchor) the calling panel's dock — an app-owned tool region anchored to a panel edge, OpenOffice-style. One dock per panel; the app must implement the `dock-draw` Panel method (and receives input via `dock-event`).
## Syntax
[tui/dock/open]
[tui/dock/open ?spec]
[tui/dock/open :left]
## Parameters
- `spec` — optional map: `:edge` (`:top`/`:left`/`:bottom`/`:right`, default `:right`), `:size` outer size in cells including chrome (positive, < 4096; clamped to the panel content), `:title` string (default: the app name)
- a bare keyword is shorthand for `:edge`; a bare string sets `:title`
## Examples
[tui/dock/open %{ :edge :right :size 32 :title "Properties" }]
[tui/dock/open :bottom]
## Returns
bool — true when the request was queued; the host opens it on its main loop (panels too small refuse silently — poll `tui/dock/state`). False when no workspace/dock support exists (`hydra`), the panel isn't a live grid leaf, or the app has no `dock-draw` method.
