# uuid/v7
Generate a time-ordered version-7 UUID (RFC 9562 §5.7). The first 48 bits
are the unix-epoch millisecond timestamp; the remaining 74 bits are
random from the OS CSPRNG.
## Syntax
[uuid/v7]
## Examples
[uuid/v7] # "01a062db-235b-708a-b7e8-0689af43cf6c" # Lexicographic sort == insertion order: set a [uuid/v7] set b [uuid/v7] ($a < $b) # true when b was created later (same-ms draws aside)
## Returns
Lowercase canonical UUID string in 8-4-4-4-12 form, version nibble `7`.
## Notes
Because the timestamp leads the string, v7 UUIDs sort lexically by
creation time — prefer them for database primary keys, event ids, and
log correlation ids where index locality matters. UUIDs generated within
the same millisecond are ordered by their random bits.
